The idea of jetting off somewhere exotic always sounds appealing, but with so many of us having been locked up for a year, a holiday may seem irresistible. However, with so many holiday companies vying for our business, then you may well find choosing your next vacation difficult. Here are some of the most popular types of holidays to consider when planning your next adventure.

A Wildlife Safari

Are you an avid subscriber to National Geographic or is your Netflix account forever suggesting you watch another David Attenborough series? If so then a safari trip would be the perfect getaway. The chance to see animals up close and personal in their natural habitat is a once and a lifetime experience for many of us. Safaris usually mean a lot of off-road driving and rugged roads, so it might not be the best match if you are queasy and easily car sick.

City Break

A city break is a fantastic option if you like to immerse yourself in new cultures and culinary experiences. To get a full taste of life in the city then avoid hotels which might be situated in tourist hot spots. Instead find holiday apartments that are situated in the heart of the city and within the distance of good restaurants and nightlife spots.

All-Inclusive Holiday Package

If you want to take the stress out of your life for a week or so, then an all-inclusive holiday may be your best option. An all-inclusive resort is generally more expensive than eating out and about but you will know what to expect, and the standard of service is usually of a very high quality. A beach holiday is great if you love to sunbathe with a holiday book and occasionally venturing into the waves for a swim. If you have a very active family who needs a lot of entertainment, then investigate the supplementary activities on offer in the resort. The last thing you want during a relaxing holiday is your children getting bored and needing stimulation. Bear in mind the age of your children and their interests when you are looking into different resorts. The moody teenager might not be as pleased as their younger sibling would be at the arrival of the cuddly holiday resort mascot to entertain them.

Road Trips

If you are intrepid and don’t want to plan every aspect of your holiday before you set off, then a road trip might be the getaway you are looking for. Road trips offer you a lot of freedom and you can take the journey at a pace suited to you and your family. So if you want to explore a little village you’ve discovered or hit the accelerator on the open highway, the decision is in your hands.

Road trips do need some planning, you don’t want to end up thousands of miles from the nearest accommodation in the middle of the night unless you are in an RV. There are some wonderful apps available that will help you navigate, find your next rest stop, or an open restaurant that can serve a decent meal.

It might be very obvious, but do not forget that a large part of a road trip does mean spending time in your vehicle. If you detest your morning commute or want to escape anything that reminds you of your usual daily life, then consider renting a vehicle to change up your experience.
