WASHINGTON - April 26, 2021 - (Newswire.com)

George Washington University is pleased to partner with AI Global for their latest iteration of George Talks Business, a GW University Bicentennial Signature event at the School of Business. The program will feature a panel discussion on the responsible development and use of AI technologies with a focus on the issues of ethics, policy, and regulation of AI in the financial services and healthcare sectors.

Panelists, including AI Global Executive Director Ashley Casovan, will address critical concerns surrounding Artificial Intelligence, including data privacy, digital equality, and ensuring that AI designs and applications are built around the principles of greater inclusiveness fairness. The panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A session with GW students, alumni, faculty, and staff. Welcome remarks will be provided by Dr. Anuj Mehrotra, dean of the GW School of Business.

"We hope to inform the debate by convening global leaders from the private and public sectors to address the most significant issues related to the policy and practice of ethical AI use," says Dr. Mehrotra. "Our goal is to provide the forum for continued discussion and bring ethics as a central theme to help promote ethical AI standards and policies - one of the reasons why we are particularly excited about our partnership with AI Global on this panel."

In addition to Casovan, the lineup of expert panelists includes Gavin Munroe, Global CIO, Wealth and Personal Banking at HSBC; Alka A. Patel, Head of AI Ethics Policy, Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC); and Rajeev Ronanki, SVP & Chief Digital Officer, Anthem, Inc.

The signature event continues a series of George Talks Business sessions on responsible development and use of AI technologies. In February 2021, the GW Schools of Business, Engineering, Law, and Public Health launched AI Themed Month with weekly GTB interviews addressing the issues of ethics, policy, and regulation in conversations with industry leaders, policy advisors, and academic experts.
