Yahoo spin-out Altaba is liquidating its Alibaba shares and will close up before the end of the year

The decision officially marks the end of Yahoo, an early Internet pioneer that once employed thousands of people in Sunnyvale and turned its founders, Jerry Yang and David Filo, into multibillionaires.
