Today, CAPE Analytics, the leader in AI-powered geospatial property intelligence, announced the launch of CAPE Purefill, a next-generation prefill solution suite. This state-of-the-art offering combines CAPE's market-leading geospatial analytics with Foundry, the company's new data fusion and machine learning platform, to generate AI-verified property data that carriers can confidently rely upon. CAPE Purefill ingests an array of imagery, traditional property, and unconventional data sources to produce accurate and dependable property insights that can drive better replacement cost estimations (RCE).
Today's prefill solutions focus on fill rates rather than data accuracy: CAPE has found that as many as 25% of properties in a typical carrier's book contain substantial errors within three highly influential drivers of replacement cost: living area, quality grade, and the number of stories. These errors result in substantial RCE and coverage mismatches and unknowingly impact both carriers' financials and insureds' ability to be properly covered. Nowhere is this more evident than in total loss scenarios, such as wildfires, where catastrophes like the Marshall Fire and Camp Fire have unearthed widespread underinsurance.
CAPE Purefill's patent-pending architecture is designed to fix these issues and add a layer of transparency that can allow carriers to use prefill in high-confidence scenarios while turning to alternate methods when confidence in the existing data sources is low.
CAPE Purefill is initially launching with two product versions:
Purefill: Outlier Detection is optimized for ease of integration and immediate value creation, regardless of the prefill solution a carrier uses. Outlier Detection scans both prefill and user-entered information for data anomalies, validating or flagging critical inputs, helping improve the customer experience by reducing changes post bind, or improving coverage A accuracy. By better aligning these inputs, carriers can right-size premium in cases of low Coverage A and improve retention in cases with high Coverage A.
Purefill: Complete Prefill offers machine learning-powered data for over 25 of the most important home RCE inputs and can replace carriers' existing solutions or in-house efforts. The Purefill Complete Prefill allows carriers to better match premium with true exposure, increases insured's trust in their carrier to provide them with the right coverage, and can dramatically reduce post-bind changes. The solution also includes unique reliability indicators for data outputs, allowing insurers to know when to depend on prefill and when to engage with the homeowner or order an in-person inspection.
“At CAPE, we are constantly looking for property insights that can help carriers elevate the way they do business. After two years of intense research and development by our team, we identified prefill as an unmonitored but problematic area that has tremendous opportunity for improvement. Today's prefill solutions have been designed to meet consumer expectations around the speed of service—but they have done so at the cost of data accuracy, which has the unintended consequence of propagating underinsurance across the industry,” said Ryan Kottenstette, CAPE CEO and co-founder. “CAPE Purefill leverages advanced machine learning to deliver the first modern prefill solution that meets the highest standards of both fill rate and accuracy, providing a more dependable prefill solution that can verify homeowners have the insurance protection they need.”
