Dave Kijowski adds political repression angle to his space thriller “Trappist”

By: WebWire

Science fiction does not only abound with stories around new technologies, space travel and interstellar wars, but also conflicts caused by the interplay of repressive politics. Such is the theme interwoven in the novel “Trappist” (Outskirts Press; 2021) by Dave Kijowski.

“Trappist” opens with space pilot Captain Alex Kijek successfully completing a space travel from planet Earth to a newly established Moon base main transfer port. Kijek developed an advanced propulsion system that will open Mars and the outer system to human settlement and exploration, enabling the human race to become a space-faring civilization. However, an explosion rocks the moon base, killing his wife and five others and putting him into coma for almost three months.

When Kijek regains consciousness in a military hospital at a space port in New Mexico, he is shocked to learn that the federal government is arresting him for murder and terrorism.

“Trappist” then proceeds to Doc Murphy, who lost a young protégé in a dreadful space explosion. He is being persecuted, with his family held hostage by the government. Troubled by his past, Doc struggles to cope under the restrictions imposed upon him. Then, the time comes when he must finally uncover the mystery of his protégé's death.

What will become of Alex Kijek and Doc Murphy? Will space remain an arena of freedom and technological progress – or became an extension of a repressive political regime? Adventure, action, and danger await readers in Alex Kijek's “Trappist”. Grab a copy today on Amazon.

“Trappist” was last exhibited at the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference & Exhibition, held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington, D.C.
