New Distillery in Southern Kentucky's Previously Dry County

Southern Kentucky Distillery, a proud producer of premium bourbon and spirits, is excited to announce its official inclusion in the prestigious Moonshine Trail. Founded by three dedicated partners and natives of the area in 2022, Southern Kentucky Distillery is celebrated for producing the first “legally distilled” alcohol in Cumberland County since prohibition.
Cumberland County, steeped in rich history, remained “dry” from the era of prohibition until its residents voted to turn it “wet” in 2016. Since then, Southern Kentucky Distillery has been at the forefront of revitalizing the region’s storied distilling tradition, embodying the spirit of innovation while honoring age-old techniques.
Nestled in the picturesque Foothill Mountains of Appalachia, Southern Kentucky Distillery is strategically located between Lake Cumberland, Dale Hollow Lake, and the Cumberland River. This scenic area attracts thousands of water enthusiasts and fishermen annually, making it an ideal destination for both locals and visitors.
