While the SPAIRE procedure provides a similar result to a traditional hip replacement surgery, it uses a new approach that has proven effective at preventing damage to several important muscle and tendon groups. As a result, Prof. Lee is able to send most patients home within 23 hours of their surgery, with none of the standard mobility restrictions.
With a traditional hip replacement, patients are usually restricted from lifting their legs past 90 degrees or doing any activity that may result in too much hip movement.
