Abnormal Security Achieves FedRAMP “In Process” Milestone to Deliver Human Behavior Security to the U.S. Government

The AI-native platform promises to provide stronger email security capabilities to better protect the federal government from advanced email attacks

Abnormal Security, the leader in AI-native human behavior security, today announced that it has achieved Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) “In Process” status and is now listed on the FedRAMP marketplace. FedRAMP is a government-wide program that provides a risk-based approach for the adoption and use of cloud services by the federal government, thereby empowering agencies to use modern cloud technologies securely.

The move by Abnormal to have an authorized FedRAMP solution will allow U.S. federal government organizations to take advantage of its AI-native human behavior security platform and further protect its employees from advanced, socially-engineered email attacks. This important milestone brings Abnormal one step closer to achieving a FedRAMP Moderate Authority to Operate (ATO), which is currently estimated for the first half of 2025 and is a significant part of the company’s broader investment in supporting the U.S. public sector.

“Today’s email and cloud account breaches are rooted in tactics that exploit human behavior, and the U.S. federal government is increasingly susceptible,” said Evan Reiser, chief executive officer of Abnormal Security. “Unfortunately, the rise of generative AI has enabled even petty criminals to create highly-sophisticated attacks at scale, and the interconnected nature of the cloud ecosystem provides unconstrained access. As we work to fulfill our mission of protecting humans with AI, we look forward to partnering with the federal government to protect American citizens from these sophisticated threats.”

Abnormal Security takes a unique approach to protecting email by understanding human behavior. The platform connects via API to analyze thousands of signals from multiple data sets and baseline known behavior across the organization. Autonomous AI models then enable Abnormal to precisely detect anomalous activity and stop never-before-seen attacks with superhuman speed and accuracy—understanding human behavior better than humans to protect humans better than humans.

“More than 2,500 customers, including hundreds of state and local governments, already rely on Abnormal to protect their cloud email,” said James Yeager, vice president of public sector at Abnormal Security. “We are committed to bringing the capabilities of Abnormal’s email security platform to the U.S. government. We look forward to a longstanding partnership with federal departments and agencies, helping to preserve their missions while securing the nation from cyber attacks.”
