The high honor recognizes licensed clinicians in executive roles who their peers and Modern Healthcare deem to be paving the way to better health through their executive responsibility, leadership, innovative thinking, community service, and achievements. Dr. Rosen is a leading expert in women’s cardiovascular disease and oversees women’s health services at Northwell, focusing on the elimination of healthcare disparities through comprehensive clinical programs, gender-based research, community partnerships, and education.

“I am deeply honored to be recognized among so many influential leaders as one of Modern Healthcare’s Top Clinical Executives. Focusing on women’s health is crucial because it addresses the unique and often unmet needs of half our population,” said Dr. Rosen, partners council professor of women’s health and professor of cardiology at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. “This recognition underscores the importance of our work and motivates us to continue innovating and advocating for comprehensive, gender-specific care. By advancing women’s health, we improve individual well-being and strengthen the fabric of our communities.”

Dr. Rosen has been a practicing cardiologist for over 30 years. A longtime American Heart Association (AHA) volunteer, Dr. Rosen will serve as the AHA President-elect beginning July 1, 2024. Dr. Rosen received the 2018 AHA Women in Cardiology Mentoring Award, and in 2021, she received the AHA’s Physician of the Year Award. Dr. Rosen was the recipient of the 2023 WomenHeart Wenger Award for Excellence in Medical Advocacy. She co-authored the book Heart Smarter for Women: Six Weeks to a Healthier Heart, which was published in 2022, and co-produced the documentary Ms. Diagnosed, which premiered at the Cinequest film festival in 2020.

Dr. Rosen oversees Northwell’s Katz Institute for Women’s Health. Its mission is to enhance women's health throughout their lives, bridging the gap between wellness and personalized care delivery. With a dedicated focus on women, the Katz Institute offers comprehensive healthcare and sets the standards for excellence in patient-centered women’s healthcare. It also serves as a convener and amplifier for all of Northwell’s women’s health initiatives, including supporting sex- and gender-specific research, providing expert, coordinated clinical care, and educating the community on prevention and well-being.

Most recently, on May 15, under Dr. Rosen’s guidance, the inaugural Women's Health Health Lab was held at Hearst Tower in New York City. The star-studded full-day symposium was an influential gathering of women’s health advocates, clinicians, experts, and leaders who explored a wide range of issues vital to women’s well-being, including the First Lady of the United States Jill Biden, EdD, Kristin Chenoweth, Chelsea Clinton, among others.

“As New York’s largest health system, with over 5.5 million patient encounters annually, it is our responsibility to address the unique needs of every one of our patients,” said Michael Dowling, president and CEO of Northwell Health. “Under Dr. Rosen’s innovative leadership and unwavering dedication, she has become a true force for change in all the communities we serve.”
