CCC President and CEO Featured in the Innovation Category

Highlighting Dynamic Female Leaders and Entrepreneurs

CCC, a leader in advancing copyright, accelerating knowledge, and powering innovation, announces that its President and CEO, Tracey Armstrong, was named to the Forbes 2023 “50 Over 50” list.

The third annual Forbes “50 Over 50” list features a collection of powerful founders, innovators, and creators that have a deep sphere of influence and are changing the world. The list was divided into four categories – innovation, impact, investment, and lifestyle. Armstrong was featured in the innovation category.

Since becoming CEO in 2007, Armstrong has led CCC (Copyright Clearance Center) through a period of tremendous growth and innovation. She collaborates with publishers, authors, universities, businesses, and industry associations around the world to address copyright issues and establish alliances. A leading voice on global copyright, artificial intelligence, FAIR Data Principles, and data analytics, Armstrong is also President of the Board of Directors of the International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organisations (IFRRO). She champions CCC’s “We Not Me” program promoting corporate and individual social responsibility. Armstrong also serves on the Board of Harborlight Homes, a Massachusetts-based non-profit Community Development Corporation that cultivates just, equitable, and sustainable housing opportunities.

“Collaboration and commitment drive innovation across CCC,” said Armstrong. “I share the honor of being included on Forbes’ prestigious list with every single CCC colleague around the world, and I’m so grateful to everyone’s contributions which make CCC the powerful community it is.”

This year’s list, produced in partnership with Mika Brzezinski and the Know Your Value platform, includes, among others:

  • Patti Labelle, the 79-year-old ‘Godmother of Soul’ singer, actor, and entrepreneur who is now leveraging her music earnings to fund Patti’s Good Life.
  • Jamie Lee Curtis, who won her first Oscar at 64 for her supporting role in “Everything Everywhere All at Once”.
  • Peggy Whitson, the 63-year-old astronaut who has spent 675 days working in space, more than any other woman alive.
  • Nancy Pfund, who, at 53, founded VC firm DBL Partners which closed a $600 million climate tech-focused fund in 2021.
  • Catherine Coleman Flowers, environmental health and climate researcher and activist who is now using her “over 50” career to campaign for better sanitation and water infrastructure in deprived rural communities.

Under Armstrong’s leadership, CCC received a 2023 Top Workplaces USA national award and was named one of the Top Places to Work in Massachusetts by the Boston Globe. CCC was also included in the Globe’s Top 100 Women-Led Businesses in Massachusetts list. Last year, CCC earned several Top Workplaces Culture Excellence Awards for Employee Appreciation, Employee Well-Being, Professional Development, Compensation & Benefits, Leadership, Work-Life Flexibility, and being Women-Led.
