Dino Rizzo, the co-founder of Healing Place Church and senior pastor of Church of the Highlands, recaps another successful recent Motion Conference.
Church of the Highlands’ senior pastor, Dino Rizzo, co-founder of Healing Place Church and executive director of the Association of Related Churches (ARC), is proud to announce yet another successful Motion Conference just completed.
What started as just a gathering for students at Church of the Highlands, the largest church in Alabama, has turned into a three-day event that 13,000 people attended from seven countries around the world.
In addition to Dino Rizzo, many true heroes of the modern Christian faith attended the event, including Jentzen Franklin, Kari Jobe, Cody Carnes, Rich Wilkerson, Chad Veach, and Pastor Chris Hodges.
Veach, the pastor at Zoe Church, is known by many since he officiated Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian’s wedding. Other celebrities have famously attended his church, located in Los Angeles.
While speaking at the event, Veach asked attendees to put the same amount of time, energy, and passion into Jesus as they do into famous musicians such as Taylor Swift or sports stars.
According to Dino Rizzo, the idea behind Motion Conference is to bring about a generation of people who are empowered by Jesus and are equipped to make a difference. These people are living out their faith every day and come to the conference to be inspired by the impressive list of speakers and faith leaders.
Strategically positioned at the summer’s end, the conference empowers students to embark on their upcoming school year with renewed vigor, readiness, and inspiration to live their lives in motion -- whether in school, at their local church, at their home, or in their local community.
The Motion Conference invited students in middle school, high school, and college to attend for three days at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex in Alabama. In addition to hearing impressive speakers and being treated to concerts, attendees also had access to multiple community groups on campus and the opportunity to meet others like them from around the world.
The groups engaged in worship during the main session each day and heard powerful messages from different artists and speakers, according to Dino Rizzo.
The Community Groups especially were designed so that students could engage and connect in life-giving relationships that could lead them to dive deeper into the truths that were shared during the main sessions. They allowed the students the opportunity to continue discussing the central theme of the main sessions in smaller and more intimate settings.
All students were divided by age for these Community Groups and were led by a Church of the Highlands pastor, who helped facilitate their time.
At the Motion Conference, students learned overarching themes such as servant leadership and how to share their faith and spiritual disciplines.
