About Ms. Schluter
Ms. Schluter grew up as the oldest of four children. Throughout her education, she was encouraged by teachers and professors who supported her academic career and greatly influenced her path in life. Ms. Schluter earned a bachelor's degree in international relations from Mary Washington University, graduating with honors, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Denver.

As needed reforms, she favors removing the incentives that lead to dishonest and excessive claiming. As examples, she argues that legislation is needed to allow juries to hear information that is currently hidden from them, such as how medical billing and benefit systems work, the amounts paid, when medical lien and litigation finance companies are involved and how they work. Another example is that any state without a damages cap on medical liability is making it that much harder to attract and retain doctors.
