Global Music Diplomacy Initiative will include English language learning through music, support to aspiring artists and musicians in other countries, new generation of Global Music Ambassadors

NEW YORK, NY / ACCESSWIRE / July 2, 2024 / The recording industry's Music Performance Trust Fund (MPTF), a leading non-profit organization enriching lives and uniting communities in North America through the power of music, commends Secretary Antony J. Blinken and the U.S. Department of State for its commitment to forging peace and cultural dialogue through new music diplomacy initiatives.

"The mission and values of the recording industry's Music Performance Trust Fund (MPTF) align entirely with those of the U.S. Department of State's decades-long global music diplomacy efforts," said Daniel J. Beck, Trustee of the MPTF. "It is encouraging to learn of a renewed effort to remind us of our similarities and convey a collective message of peace and goodwill, domestically as well as internationally, though music. We amplify this effort wherever we are able," said Beck.

Secretary Blinken, during a June 24 press conference, remarked that "music has a unique power in diplomacy: introducing others to our history, to our culture - creating ties that cross borders - strengthening relationships between our people, and even our governments."

U.S. Global Music Ambassador Chuck D. reminded attendees that "Peace, like good music, is not easy to achieve. It takes time, detail, persistence, resilience, refinements, honesty, and creativity. Now is the time for us all, as Americans and music artists, songwriters, and producers, to step up and do our part by sharing our talents, our time, and our understanding of the real connections that we can make through music and culture. Let's engage younger generations - who are our future leaders - and encourage peace in communities and countries worldwide."

About the MPTF: Primarily funded by four major record companies, including Sony Music, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, and Walt Disney Records, the MPTF plays a vital role in support of the music industry's gig economy. The independently run organization engages professional musicians that are members of the American Federation of Musicians (AFM) to perform live in admission-free events across North America. By partnering with businesses, chambers of commerce, arts councils, municipal government organizations and parks programs, the MPTF supports concerts in parks and public spaces, music in schools events, performances in senior centers and other special events. Since its founding in 1948, it has distributed approximately $620 million (USD) in sponsorship money. For more information, visit www.musicpf.org and www.facebook.com/the.mptf/
