The festival, taking place from April 16-28, 2024, promises to bring an exciting lineup of 152 films from 19 nations to the heart of Queens at The Museum of the Moving Image and Kaufman Astoria Studios.

Festival co-founders, Executive Director Katha Cato and Artistic Director Donald Preston Cato, are thrilled to present a diverse and thought-provoking program that truly represents the innovative spirit of Queens and the world. With 47 thematic blocks, the festival showcases a wide range of genres and stories, addressing themes such as survival, empowerment, conflict, immigration, and the environment.

"We are incredibly excited to share this year's lineup with our audience," said Katha Cato. "The films we have selected are not only entertaining but also challenge us to think critically about the world around us."

The festival will kick off with Welcoming Night, a live broadcast from Sac's Place on April 16, connecting with filmmakers from around the globe who are unable to attend in person. The following day, the Opening Night Screening at the Museum of the Moving Image will feature a special tribute to the 2024 Spirit of Queens Honoree, Yance Ford, and a selection of films that refuse to back down.

Other highlights include the International Premier of Who To Love by Giorgio Testi, which was written and stars Grammy and Golden Globe-winning artist/producer Dave Stewart, with Greta Scarano and Mokadelic;  the inspiring true story Freedom Hair by Academy AwardNominated  Dianne Houston, the Sundance Grand Jury prize-winning director Alex Lora's first feature Unicorns, and the stunning paper mache art documentary Piñatas of Earthly Delights by Emmy-nominated Tom Maroney.

With a commitment to fostering emerging talent and driving economic development in the borough, QWFF has become a prominent platform for filmmakers worldwide. The festival has a history of resilience, being the first to pivot to a virtual format during the pandemic and consistently being recognized as a top festival by MovieMaker and FilmFreeway.
