An Inspiring USC MFA Thesis Film launches Kickstarter Campaign

Now Seeking Community Support via Kickstarter, After Sunset, Dawn Arrives is a Coming of Age Story about a Chinese Man Finding Peace & Self-Acceptance!

After Sunset, Dawn Arrives is an upcoming short film about a Chinese man finding peace and self-acceptance at declining years. The project is a USC MFA Thesis Film by Andy Yi Li, a Chinese born filmmaker from Los Angeles, and she has recently launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to raise funds and support for the project. The plot of the film features a 69 year old Chinese man Wan in the early 2000s, who falls in love with a man who is 30 years younger than him. Wan not only struggles with his newly discovered homosexuality, but also confronts his guilt towards his long deceased Chinese wife.

“This film is a short story that blends in various topics I wish to explore, including coming out of the closet as an old person, cross-age love, intimate life of the elderly and broader questions of what is the meaning of life and what is love.” said Andy Yi Li, while introducing this project to the Kickstarter community. “I wish after watching my film, audiences can have a better understanding of who they really love and what they really want to do for their lives.” She added. According to the filmmaker, this short film is a universal story and not just a LGBTQ film.

The Kickstarter Campaign is located on the web at:
