Biogen, Americares and Harvard Chan C-CHANGE Help Community Health Clinics Address Climate Risks

By: 3BL Media

SOURCE: Biogen

DESCRIPTION:

Biogen, Americares, and the Center for Climate, Health and the Global Environment at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health have teamed up to help community health clinics in the United States mitigate climate risks.

There are more than 2,800 health clinics providing free or low-cost care to more than 32 million people. They increasingly treat patients who face climate-related health risks, such as dangerous heat waves, insect-borne diseases, and air pollution. And, when these life-saving but under-resourced clinics are forced to close due to increasingly common climate risks, such as extreme weather, patients are left without access to consistent care.

With input from pilot clinics and organizations, we are creating a Climate Resilience Toolkit to equip participating clinics with the resources they need to better manage patient care when facing climate risks. By supporting clinics and patients on the frontlines of the climate crisis, we are working towards a healthier, more resilient and equitable world.
