Venezuelan-American Reggae Band Announces Debut Release of Nirvana's 'Come as You Are' Remix

MIAMI - September 4, 2020 - (

La Tribu Royale, a Venezuelan-American band from Miami, Florida, is thrilled to announce the launch of their new song, a remix of Nirvana’s “Come As You Are”. A modern take on 90s grunge, this remix supersedes the band’s first hit song and music video, “Holiday,” which surpassed 170K views within its first weeks on YouTube, despite being recorded during the COVID-19 quarantine.

The song’s lyrics convey an underlining message of acceptance and the notion of being true to yourself, without hesitation. Nirvana stood in favor of these principles among others. In fact, one of Nirvana’s albums, “Incesticide” includes the following statement in its liner notes by Nirvana’s lead singer, Kurt Cobain, “If any of you in any way hate homosexuals, people of different color, or women, please do this one favor for us — leave us the f--- alone! Don’t come to our shows and don’t buy our records.”  With this testimony, Kurt Cobain sent a strong message to his fans about acceptance and anti-tolerance. La Tribu Royale’s lead singer, Gali, talks about his experience when first reading the quote, "I remember reading the quote when I bought the Incesticide CD. It stuck with me all these years because of how firmly Kurt Cobain felt about equality and how he always stood his ground in the face of adversity." As immigrants fleeing a communist regime that tolerates discrimination and injustice, La Tribu Royale embodies this belief and is proud to represent that statement with their remake of “Come as You Are.”

The “Come as You Are” remix has a chill reggae vibe and added verse in Spanish that set the stage to its accompanying music video. At a time when the political and social climate of our great nation is in distress, the video’s cool ambiance, live performance, and recurring images of diverse people from all walks of life are a breath of fresh air.
