SHRM Announces Blue Ribbon Commission on Racial Equity

Today, SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) announced the members of its new Blue Ribbon Commission on Racial Equity. The commission, convening HR and business leaders to drive actions and find solutions, is part of SHRM’s “Together Forward @Work” initiative, a call to action for the business community and HR professionals to address racial inequity in the workplace.

SHRM’s Blue Ribbon Commission on Racial Equity will:

• Assess the efficacy of existing programs and models
• Identify and scale programs shown to successfully manage the recruitment, retention, development, and engagement of diverse workforces
• Chart out a roadmap to create inclusive, diverse and safe workplaces that apply accountability measures at all levels of the organization
• Produce and curate content and tools that will foster continued professional development in increasing equity in the workplace

The commission brings together a coalition of HR and workplace experts, including SHRM Volunteer Leaders, chief human resource officers, researchers, academics, and other business executives, who have consistently—and committedly—worked to identify long-term solutions to creating inclusive workplaces.
