LOS ANGELES - July 2, 2020 - (Newswire.com)

LOS ANGELES, July 2, 2020 (Newswire) -"Although the July 4th weekend has always been a time of socializing, parties, fireworks and celebration, the resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic and increasing hospital admissions means we must continue and even expand safety measures," says Dr. Ernst von Schwarz. "Physicians and health policy advisors advise caution for the upcoming weekend."

“Even though we all want to enjoy and celebrate July 4th, we need to be reminded that the current spikes of coronavirus cases are likely a result of mass gatherings during the Memorial Day weekend and loosening many restrictions after the lockdowns. Please be reminded that in the current situation, there should be no such thing as “going back to normal. In contrast, we all have to adopt a ‘new normal’ in order to prevent the spread of the virus and contraction of this life-threatening disease.”

“Several states, such as Oregon for example, have tracked new cases after large family gatherings. In order to stay safe for the upcoming weekend, we do recommend the following:”

1.     Avoid mass gatherings. The more people that are around the higher the chance that someone might have COVID-19 and then might infect others.

2.     Keep your distance if you are in closer proximity to relatives or friends, try to avoid breathing directly into other’s faces and stay outdoors rather than enclosed rooms.

3.     Set up a private space for friends or family members who are at “high-risk” including the elderly, those with underlying lung or heart diseases, dementia, or anyone with a weakened immune system.

4.     Don’t share your glasses, bottles, plates, or utensils with others.

5.     Disinfect repeatedly frequently touched surfaces such as tables, kitchen counters, sinks and toilets.

6.     Bring your own hand sanitizers, face coverage, and eye shields or glasses, as well as gloves and sanitizing wipes.

7.     WEAR YOUR MASK - The masks do not provide 100% security but it definitely reduces the risk of contracting the virus. In the same way as we put on our seat belts in our car, we should wear our masks whenever we leave our homes.

8.  If you want to hug someone, do it briefly with covered faces in opposite directions.

9. Wash or disinfect your hands frequently.

10.  If you have fever or any signs of a respiratory illness, please stay home.

“Have fun - but we all should consider our own safety and the safety of our family members over social interests,” says Dr. von Schwarz.
