As part of her Phase 4 Opening Plan, Governor Whitmer has strongly encouraged employee testing and required all Michigan businesses to implement COVID-19 a preparedness and response plan. For many, that will include testing.
Based on current Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and American Disabilities Act regulations, employers are both entitled to know if their employees are COVID-19-positive and can require that their employees take tests before returning to work.
Since the COVID-19 crisis began, BIOTECH Laboratories has processed hundreds of tests per day. But foreseeing the need for truly mass testing capabilities, they immediately began the process of increasing their capacity tenfold.
Now, in early June, they have announced the capacity to process 2,500-4,000 test per day, seven days per week, ramping up further to meet demand.

BIOTECH is working directly with employers to schedule on-site testing as well as customized testing plans based on varying exposure risks. Collected samples are processed, and results are delivered, in 24 hours. Anyone who tests positive is contacted by a nurse for care guidance.
BIOTECH is also working with local independent pharmacies to establish public, first-come-first-serve testing sites. All privately insured individuals, Medicaid and Medicare patients, and even the uninsured, have access to COVID-19 testing at no cost.
