OCC May 2020 Total Volume Up 17.3 Percent from a Year Ago

OCC, the world’s largest equity derivatives clearing organization, announced today that May 2020 total cleared contract volume was 545,272,318 contracts, up 17.3 percent from May 2019. OCC’s year-to-date average daily total cleared contract volume is 27,748,391 contracts, up 41.5 percent from 2019.

Options: Total exchange-listed options cleared contract volume was 541,893,917, up 18.9 percent from 455,941,785 contracts in May 2019. Equity options volume was 511,622,104 contracts, up 26 percent from May 2019. This includes ETF option cleared contract volume of 200,253,550, a 14 percent increase compared to May 2019. Index options volume was 30,271,813, a 39.5 percent decrease from May 2019.

Futures: Futures cleared contract volume was 3,378,401, a 62.6 percent decrease from May 2019. OCC's year-to-date average daily cleared futures volume is 295,365 contracts.

Securities Lending: The average daily loan value at OCC in May 2020 was $74,424,510,160, a 0.72 percent increase compared to May 2019. Securities lending CCP activity decreased by 9.68 percent in new loans from May 2019 with 108,016 transactions last month.
