Residents at Avamere at Rio Rancho, an independent living, assisted living, and memory care community, enjoyed a visit from Poetry the therapy horse.
Knowing their residents have been isolated due to COVID-19, the marketing and life enrichment teams got creative on how to cheer up residents. They invited a horse to their senior living community to peek in the windows.
Residents were treated to ice cream while they enjoyed a special visit from Poetry the therapy horse.
"Poetry the horse brought so many memories to the residents," shared Jennifer Mannix, Director of Sales and Outreach for Avamere at Rio Rancho. "It was fun to see the smiles on everyone's faces."
Poetry is a Gypsy Vanner horse, which is a unique breed in the Rio Rancho, New Mexico area. Poetry is 10 years old and came to New Mexico from England.
Poetry acts as an ambassador for the city of Rio Rancho through the efforts of Loving Thunder Therapeutic Riding.
