Kentucky’s Cornbread Hemp Achieves USDA Organic Certification

Cornbread Hemp proudly announces they have received organic certification from the National Organic Program of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), becoming the first Kentucky CBD company to do so, as reported by WDRB. The USDA organic seal is recognized as a trustworthy guarantee that products bearing it are grown without synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, antibiotics, food additives, or genetically modified seeds.

With this organic certification, Cornbread Hemp continues to disrupt the CBD industry with its commitment to quality, transparency, and authentic brand story. The company gets its name from co-founder Jim Higdon’s first book, the Cornbread Mafia, a true story about outlaw cannabis growers from Kentucky, published in 2012. After a journalism career covering cannabis for POLITICO and Kentucky news for the Washington Post, Higdon co-founded Cornbread Hemp by using his ten years of experience in the Kentucky hemp industry to navigate the quickly growing market.

“Cornbread Hemp is poised to become the most trusted CBD company from Kentucky, and the USDA organic certification is a huge step in that direction,” Cornbread Hemp co-founder Jim Higdon said. “We are honored to represent the full 200 years of Kentucky hemp history and to combine that heritage with USDA organic certification. It makes us the most trustworthy brand for consumers looking for the kind of comfort provided by full spectrum CBD products.”

Cornbread Hemp’s certified organic CBD oil is extracted using organic sugarcane ethanol. That organic hemp extract is then blended with organic coconut oil to create CBD products worthy of the USDA certified organic seal. Cornbread Hemp is the only national brand to offer USDA certified organic full spectrum CBD oils at two purity levels: whole plant and distilled, and the only brand to offer paraben-free full spectrum CBD lotions and distilled CBD pet oil with corndog flavoring.

Higdon and his partner Eric Zipperle co-founded Cornbread Hemp in late 2018. They began shipping top-shelf CBD products from cornbreadhemp.com in April 2019, and partnering with retailers soon after. Today, consumers can find Cornbread Hemp products in over 100 retail locations across 10 states.
