The Shimmering is a kaleidoscopic walk-through artwork featuring images and music curated by Jed the Fish. After leaving KROQ in 2012, Jed the Fish turned to design, music composition, and sculpture. The body of Jed the Fish’s work has focused on large-scale mixed media sculptures which he has kept on private display in Pasadena. The Shimmering is his latest piece and the sculpture’s first public exhibition. Widely recognized as a taste-maker in 80s and 90s, Jed the Fish incorporates his perspective on popular culture by drawing parallels between the fractal qualities of the kaleidoscopic images and the codification of popular music composition. Aside from the artistic message, “From the day you first gazed into one, haven’t you always wanted to be in a kaleidoscope?” quipped Jed the Fish, “The Shimmering wildly challenges spatial perspectives.”

Joining Jed the Fish at Hollywood & Highland are other KROQ alumni including Richard Blade, Tami Heide, and Freddy Snakeskin. For nostalgic KROQ 80s listeners, this will be the first time in decades these legendary KROQ personalities will be reunited. They will be joined by on-air KROQ DJ Nicole Alvarez. Said Jed the Fish, “Their support humbles me. As personalities, we are so linked with a legacy. We were privileged to shape the musical landscape into a playground of possibility.”

A KROQ radio personality for over 37 years, Jed the Fish was best known for his maniacal laugh, bawdy yet insightful talk, and for being the first to play such influential artists as Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Devo, and later No Doubt, The Offspring, and Katy Perry. Jed the Fish was recognized by Radio & Records as Alternative Radio Personality of the year in 1998 and 2000.

The installation, on Hollywood & Highland’s Center Courtyard is free to the public. Hollywood & Highland is located at 6801 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, CA 90028. The Shimmering will open from 10am – 10pm on Friday, November 29th and 10am -10pm Saturday, November 30th.
