Bacula Systems Receives Backup and Recovery Deduplication Patent

The patent covers deduplication technology integrated into Bacula Enterprise for physical, virtual, container and cloud environments, all in a single platform for backing up and restoring corporate data.

WILMINGTON, Del. - November 18, 2019 - (Newswire.com)

Strengthening its leadership in high-performance backup and recovery for enterprises and managed service providers, Bacula Systems announced that the United States Patent Office has granted a patent to meet the growing industry needs for efficient data deduplication.

Patent for invention No. 10,467,197 is intended to create a universal deduplicated archive volume and is a key part of the complete data deduplication process for data backup and recovery in the fastest and most efficient way. The technology is used in physical, virtual, container or cloud IT environments.

This advanced deduplication method was invented by Dr. Kern Sibbald, who created and developed code for use in mission-critical environments of large enterprises. Dr. Kern Sibbald is the founder and project manager of the Bacula community, as well as the founder and chairman of Bacula Systems SA.

As data volume rises, the need for effective deduplication technology for backup and recovery solutions grows, as more and more MSPs and large data centers are forced to work with constantly expanding data, often with limited infrastructure and storage bandwidth.

“Like Bacula itself, this technology is extremely mighty, easy and dependable. It solves the problem of data deduplication through a unique approach to data recording and management,” said Kern Sibbald, founder and chairman of Bacula Systems.

“The patent obtained confirms Bacula Systems' leadership in developing backup and recovery solutions for large and demanding IT environments,” said Frank Barker, CEO of Bacula Systems.
