Pawsitively 4 Pink Announces Breast Cancer Awareness Month Fundraiser

Worcester, Sep 20, 2019 (Issuewire.com) - Pawsitively 4 Pink is pleased to announce it's Breast Cancer Awareness Month Fundraiser. The fundraiser is scheduled for October and will run the entire month. It will be located on Pawsitively 4 Pink's Facebook page. The event will raise money to financially support low-income, underserved women in the Worcester County Area, who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Pawsitively 4 Pink hopes that the month-long fundraiser will help raise awareness and the money needed to support more women with the unforeseen costs associated with breast cancer.

The online fundraiser is paired with an Uno's Dough Rai$er. The Dough Rai$er will take place at Uno's on Major Taylor Boulevard in Worcester MA on 10/3/19 from 5-9 p.m. 20% of the money raised will go back to Pawsitively 4 Pink. You must present a promotional ticket, which can be downloaded from our website.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women and as a result, 1 in 8 women will be affected by this ominous diagnosis. Massachusetts has the 4th largest population of women being diagnosed with breast cancer. Washington DC, New Hampshire, and Connecticut being the top three states.

Ionizing radiation, including exposure from x-rays and CAT scans, is an established risk factor for breast cancer. Many risk factors for breast cancer are related to exposure to estrogen and other hormones that play a role in a women's menstrual cycle. These risk factors include early menarche, late menopause, having children late in life, never having children, and never breastfeeding. Pharmaceutical hormones, such as HRT and DES, and behaviors that affect hormone levels, such as alcohol use and exercise, also affect risk. Women are at much higher risk than men, and the risk increase with age. Inherited genes, family history, and socioeconomic status are all associated with breast cancer.

The economic value of life lost due to premature death from breast cancer is estimated to reach $121 billion by the year 2020 according to Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition. Pawsitively 4 Pink recognizes that affected women can face financial hardships due to missed days at work and an increase in financial output for medical costs.

The mission of this organization is to improve the well being of women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer with love and dedication. Pawsitively 4 Pink aims to help those women who are facing financial challenges by providing financial support throughout this most difficult time: Allowing women to focus on their treatment, not their financial burdens.
