First-quarter GDP left at 3.1% as stronger business investment offsets weaker consumer spending

The pace of growth in the U.S. economy in the first three months of 2019 was left at 3.1%, revised government figures showed, as stronger business investment offset a weaker increase in consumer spending. Most economists predict growth will taper off sharply in the second quarter, however.
