SensorComm Technologies to Conduct IoT Pilot Program Monitoring Real-Time Vehicle Emissions in Coachella Valley

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - June 19, 2019 - (Newswire.com)

SensorComm Technologies, Inc. (the “Company” or “SensorComm”) with offices in New Mexico and California, is pleased to announce it has received an award through the CASCADE Innovation Program (“CASCADE”), managed by Coachella Valley Economic Partnership (“CVEP”), to conduct an Internet of Things-based (“IoT”) emissions monitoring pilot program (“Pilot”) within the Coachella Valley in Southern California (USA).

Vehicle emissions are a leading cause of air pollution contributing to health and respiratory issues like asthma, which is prominent in the Valley. SensorComm’s IoT capability will capture real-time NOx emissions data from a fleet of vehicles, and the resulting analytics will begin the process of baselining and understanding the variety of pollution footprints to provide insights into the most effective mitigation path forward. The Company anticipates commencement of additional Pilots representing different vehicle classifications.

“Information we extract from emissions data represents the cornerstone of a global pollution mitigation strategy”, stated Kamil Agi, Ph.D., President and CEO of SensorComm. “We are pleased to be working with Coachella Valley Economic Partnership to advance technological solutions for environmental sustainability.” The Wi-NOx™ technology was developed in part through a grant from the National Science Foundation. “We are extremely grateful to the NSF and our technology partner, K&A Wireless, for their continued support.”

In addition to monitoring a vehicle’s pollution footprint, Wi-NOx™ provides information for predictive and preventative maintenance, vehicle performance, and driver behavior.

Joe Wallace, CEO of CVEP commented: “having the capacity to support projects that serve public health and bring technology based companies in the IoT (internet of things) space into the iHub program helps CVEP further our mission of diversifying the local economy while gaining a further understanding of the impact of emissions in the Coachella Valley.”

In addition to the CASCADE award, SensorComm is providing additional funds and in-kind support through its partners to complete the Pilot. SensorComm is an Intel® Internet of Things Solutions Alliance partner, and a Cisco® Solution Partner Program member.

Additional information will be made available in future news releases.

ABOUT SENSORCOMM TECHNOLOGIES: SensorComm’s IoT-based NOx monitoring system (Wi-NOx™) captures the real-time pollution footprint of vehicles in the transportation/smart city segments providing predictive maintenance, performance and driver behavior information via a smartphone app.

Wi-NOx™ monitors NOx emissions at the point of origin (vehicle tailpipe) where pollution enters the environment and operates independently of the vehicle. Applicability and impact testing for IoT pollution monitoring has been completed on four continents. Global rollout is underway.
