HGTV Co-founder Susan Packard to Offer EQ Fitness Bootcamps Nationally

From conversation to action: Packard transforms the science of emotional intelligence (EQ) into a series of action-based steps that will lead you to success

KNOXVILLE, TN, May 30, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Susan Packard, a co-founder of HGTV and Scripps Networks Interactive, is presenting an EQ Fitness Bootcamp for those who are ready to transform their work lives through a "fortified" version of EQ she calls EQ Fitness.

In her new book, Packard set out to discover what could change the trajectory of leadership and workplaces to ensure they were open and humanizing, where great EQ could be practiced. She details her discoveries in her book FULLY HUMAN: 3 Steps to Grow Your Emotional Fitness in Work, Leadership, and Life (Tarcher/Perigee; 2019) which argues for the importance of offering programs for the emotional wellness of their employees, especially important to millennials and Gen Zers.

Praised by the book publishing industry's trade publication, Publisher's Weekly, as "offer[ing] viable ways to increase 'emotional fitness' and create a 'trust-building' environment in this useful guide for managers," Packard's ideas have been highlighted in The Wall Street Journal, Investors Business Daily, CNBC and Fast Company. Her book tour is taking her across the country to universities, business organizations, women's groups, and faith-based gatherings, and she is seeing a common thread: Both men and women want to let go of self-limiting emotions that hinder their success, and better connect with their teammates and their leadership.

It all begins with leaders doing their part. Packard observes, "Company leaders who foster integrity and compassion (those that are EQ Fit) succeed at rates often surpassing their more traditionally-run counterparts. In one study, EQFit leaders posted a return on assets 5 times those who did not."

Based on FULLY HUMAN and taught exclusively by Packard herself, the EQ Fitness Bootcamp transforms what we know about emotional intelligence into actionable practices. Packard's goal is to help participants gain new self-knowledge, deftly manage their vulnerabilities, and to help everyone, at every level, gain new tools to build a sense of community at work.

Kelly Miller, Partner at Reed Smith LLP, said of the inaugural EQ Fitness Bootcamp: "Your workshop at The Wing last night was powerful, inspired, and inspiring! I believe your Bootcamp delivers a message and method so much needed for professional people."

The EQ Fitness Bootcamp runs from 2 hours to a half day, depending on an organization's needs. It includes: an EQF Quiz and analysis of findings; insights from FULLY HUMAN; and many activities and exercises, including: the 4 snapshots of an individual's life (done in groups); action plans for trust-building; ways to manage unsettled emotions; and exercises in creative expression for more expansive thinking, plus more.
