K-12 Coders is a Secret Weapon Used in DC Public Schools & the Boys & Girls Club @THEARC, Here's WHY ...

We would like to invite media out to Navel Thomas Elementary and/or Lawrence E. Boone Elementary to provide coverage on the great work that K-12 Coders are doing inside DC Public Schools.

WASHINGTON - May 23, 2019 - (Newswire.com)

It’s been 3 years since the CEO of K-12 Coders moved to the DMV area from Michigan. K-12 Coders received its start in 2015 with a grant from AirForce STEM.

K-12 Coders is excited to announce its ability to provide an after-school coding, robotics, engineering, graphic design, computer programming, and entrepreneur program in Lawrence E. Boone and Navel Thomas Elementary Schools in the District of Columbia. As a licensed child care facility inside DC Public Schools, the program accepts DHS vouchers as one of its methods to fund its after-school activities. The program has also worked with Community in Schools which funded the program in Eastern High School.

Students at Eastern High School created their own clothing line, mobile apps, and learned graphics design.

This summer, K-12 Coders will be operating as partners inside the Boys & Girls Clubs @THEARC. “This is such a wonderful opportunity for the members of the Boys & Girls Club @THEARC,” says Branch Director Kerron Kalloo. “K-12 Coders offerings align with the Boys & Girls Clubs mission which is to develop critical thinking, physical, social, technological, artistic and life skills by participating in interactive activities intentionally designed to support their development and overall well-being; especially since our teens can learn a skill from K-12 Coders which would lead to a paid apprenticeship for our teen Members in grades 9th – 12th.”

The Request from Media Outlets… We need help raising awareness of this free opportunity available to other DC Public Schools. K-12 Coders accepts DHS Vouchers which provides subsidy options for low-income families. There is no cost to the DC Public School.
