Luigi Wewege Shares Business and Startup Advice During DotCom Magazine Interview

By: Get News

Palo Alto, CA – May 10, 2019 – Luigi Wewege, Senior Vice-President of Caye International Bank, has been featured by DotCom Magazine as part of its Impact Players Roundtable Interview Series. Wewege shared his perspective on one of the biggest mistakes entrepreneurs make, why taking a step away from a business is essential, and the advantages of multilingual staff.

Wewege who is part of the executive management of the Belize-based Caye International Bank, is also the author of “The Digital Banking Revolution,” and a member of the FinTech Portfolio, the world’s first member-owned FinTech innovation system. He’s a FinTech instructor and the founder and former CEO of Vivier & Co a boutique financial services firm. He’s also a principal of the Palmetto Global Ventures consulting firm.

The most important piece of advice he has for those building any enterprise or during the initial startup phase is to schedule regular meetings. It’s a mistake he made during the startup phase of Vivier and it resulted in a significant increase in correspondence of all types as members of his team sought advice, clarification and answers at any time of the day.

“I thought that due to the team being relatively small, there wasn’t a need to schedule regular meetings,” said Wewege. “Regular meetings allowed our staff to group questions and discuss them with me at one time.”

A new business or startup requires a substantial commitment in terms of time and effort. Wewege noted that it’s not necessarily a good practice. He advises that individuals step back and take at least a 30-minute walk when challenges arise. It helps clear the mind for creative solutions.

More businesses are operating internationally and Wewege made a point of hiring multilingual staff. Language barriers present unnecessary challenges to businesses that prevent them from connecting with a full range of potential clients. It’s unreasonable to expect everyone to speak, write or understand English.

Wewege also noted that all business owners need to seek input from others to make the best decision for their enterprise and above all, be authentic. Glib sales talk and slick tactics are everywhere. Transparency and honesty are the currencies that count.
