Unique Jewelry Collection of Rare Chanel, Francoise Montague Paris and William de Lillo Modernist Studio Jewelry on Exhibit at Palm Springs Modernism Show & Sale

February 15 - 18, 2019

PALM SPRINGS, CA, December 21, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Owner Carlos King of Gallery24Jewelry, and principal interior designer of Carlos King Design, will be showcasing a unique collection of rare Chanel, Francoise Montague Paris and William de Lillo modernist studio Jewelry during the 19th annual Palm Springs Modernism Week Show and Sale, February 15 – 18, 2019, at the Palm Springs Convention Center. Haute couture pieces mixed with never before seen William de Lillo studio jewelry collected in Europe will be showcased during the four day event.

While the show itself will feature nearly one hundred premier national and international dealers offering furniture, decorative and fine arts representing design movements of the 20th century, King's exhibition is a rare example presenting exclusive archival vintage treasures of iconic couturiers.

The unique bold aspects of the Coco Chanel jewelry pieces will feature the designers journey throughout her career until her death in 1971, as well as examples from the 1980's and 1990's when Karl Lagerfeld took over the famed fashion house.

The distinct aspects of Francoise Montague Paris will feature the designer's classic aesthetic, which blends the houses traditional 1940's look with a more current Parisian flair. Francoise Montague is one of a few remaining atelier's in Paris keeping the art of haute couture jewelry thriving.

The late William de Lillo's exclusive creations attracted the attention of Dolores Hope, Elizabeth Taylor, and Barbara Sinatra and other celebrities, as well as American and French fashion houses. His vision and talent along with partner Robert F. Clark did not only transcend into costume jewelry and sculpture, but also into modernist studio jewelry. Their pieces are prime examples of material manipulation and a lost art – extremely scarce and coveted amongst private collectors and museums.

"I find costume jewelry fascinating and works of wearable art," said Carlos King. "All of the jewelry I will be showcasing is rare and what's even more unique is the opportunity to see them and purchase them- it seldom happens in one's lifetime, and has taken me a decade of my 34 years and countless hours of research to amass such extraordinary pieces."

King's next exhibition will highlight haute couture clothing and jewelry from the collection of Billy Boy*, an artist, socialite and fashion designer who was a muse of Andy Warhol. Billy Boy* is known for accumulating an important haute couture fashion collection, the largest privately owned in the world, with his pieces being whimsical and of great scale. Billy Boy* and his husband, Lala Lestrade, invited King to participate in this retrospective collection taking place in 2020 in Nantes, France, to showcase the distinguishable Billy Boy* pieces from King's own private collection.

King's Gallery24Jewelry can be visited in downtown Palm Springs to experience a premiere collection of astonishing costume jewelry with pieces dating from the 1930's to today. The collection features designer-signed, limited edition and one-of-a-kind couture and runway pieces. King's passion and discriminating eye has produced a fascinating collection which has captivated the eyes of vintage collectors, socialites and celebrities. Gallery24Jewelry also showcases Billy Boy* Surreal & Couture Bijoux.

In addition, JB Hudson Jewelers in Minneapolis, and Martin Patrick 3 also in Minneapolis, now feature exclusive jewelry from King's private collection. JB Hudson has the largest and most comprehensive collection of vintage and estate jewelry in the Midwest, while Martin Patrick 3 is an award winning men's retail store creatively combining fine home furnishings, men's apparel and elegant interior design.
