The Dodgers and Red Sox have not been matched up together in the World Series since the 1916 World Series when the Dodgers were based in Brooklyn and were known as the Brooklyn Robins. The Red Sox defeated the Brooklyn Robins (later known as the Dodgers) in five games.
Interestingly the current managers, Dave Roberts from the Dodgers and Alex Cora from the Red Sox were teammates on the Dodgers in 2002, 2003 and 2004. Including their 2004 win, which ended the Curse of the Bambino, this is the fourth World Series appearance by the Red Sox in 14 years and their 13th appearance all-time.
