Shirin Tinati is a photographer. She is smart, lively and beautiful. She is a warrior. Diagnosed with Triple Negative Ductal Carcinoma, a highly aggressive and rare form of breast cancer, she endured months of painful cancer therapies and surgeries before finally reaching remission.
Months after she was deemed cancer-free, Shirin noticed dark lesions appearing all over her body. Her oncodermatologist diagnosed her with another rare and complicated disease: Radiation Induced Morphea (RIM). Her shins, abdomen and lower back looked a dark, bruise-like color, and the skin felt thin enough to tear.
Shirin's Journey to Avène
Shirin's oncodermatologist prescribed treatment at the Avène Hydrotherapy Center, which has been clinically shown to improve quality of life and alleviate side effects for non-metastatic breast cancer patients.2 Before Shirin left for her treatment, she did not have much hope that a simple water would produce skin-changing results.
