The teeth are definitely the window toward the body’s general health

First and foremost, there aren’t many things that can make people feel like a healthy, happy smile does. It can make those stomach butterflies flutter when seeing it and give a major confidence boost and feel-good vibe when people have it. It’s that very first impression someone usually makes on people and people usually make on someone. And there is no surprise many say teeth are the best accessory one could possibly wear.

If the eyes are the window to the soul, the mouth and particularly the teeth are definitely the window toward the body’s general health. And that’s quite important as anyone may imagine. Surprisingly, less than two-thirds Canadians attend routine dental visits every year. This can only mean fewer healthy, happy smiles to be around. The study showed what we would expect: the lesser a person brushes their teeth and the poorer their oral hygiene is, the worse it is for their teeth.

It’s no wonder the most recent numbers published in 2018 are gruesome: about 5% of Canadians between 20 and 64 years old have no teeth at all, while 92% of those who do have teeth have had dental caries in their lifetime – potentially more than just one.

But this is not always the case, Ontario for example has been named the province with the highest number of people actually seeing their dentists on a regular basis. Quad Dental Clinic, one of the reputable clinics in Toronto are playing a part in all of this. Delivering on their mission to giving everyone a healthy mouth, Quad Dental offer a variety of preventive, restorative or cosmetic services – you name it.

9 out of 10 dentists recommend using toothpaste X. All of us have heard that before. And it is a catchy line that stays with you, but for a good reason: it’s more or less the toothpaste brand as it is the importance of using one. Ever since childhood, brushing your teeth twice a day has been the norm. There’s no reason it shouldn’t be now as well. And flossing might seem like a good compromise, but often times it’s not.

An Associated Press investigation from 2016 says there’s really no evidence to believe flossing is an essential part of oral hygiene. Even the United States’ Department for Health and Human Services confessed that the benefits of flossing had never been appropriately explored. This is why you should stick to your toothbrush and always remember to change it at least every four months.

Being one step ahead of the threat is always best. Practicing oral hygiene at home and regularly using dental services is the best way to take care of the window to the body.
