MARLO N. RICHARDSON BECOMES THE FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN FEMALE TO CHAIR THE CALIFORNIA STATE CONTRACTORS LICENSING BOARD

SACRAMENTO, CA - July 18, 2018 - The Contractors State License Board (CSLB) unanimously elects its first African American Female to chair its 15-member board in California.  Marlo N. Richardson is a business entrepreneur in Los Angeles and an Executive Producer in television and film.  She was appointed to CSLB in 2015 by Governor Jerry Brown.  Previously, she spent the last 15 years as an executive in Law, and in Law Enforcement in Los Angeles.  Her resume includes executive level experience in the restaurant, retail, health care, and real estate industries.

Ms. Richardson graduated from California State University, Dominguez Hills with a BS in Communications, and attended USC’s School of Public Policy in addition to law school.  She brings a wealth of knowledge as a business owner and executive manager in both the public and private sectors.  

CSLB licenses and regulates contractors in 44 classifications that constitute the construction industry.  There are approximately 300,000 contractors in California.  CSLB was established in 1929 and falls under California’s Department of Consumer Affairs, and maintains a budget of approximately 66 million dollars with over 400 employees throughout the state of California.

Board member appointments are made by the governor and state legislature.
