The 400-meter, eight-lane track is being installed by Medallion Athletics Products, Inc., a general contractor based in Mooresville, N.C., that sells and installs Mondo products.
The world's top track for more than 30 years, Super X Performance is recognized as one of the fastest, most durable and environmentally safest tracks available and is known for its shock absorption and optimal energy return. Its ideal blend of speed and comfort minimizes the occurrence of injuries.
This is the third consecutive time the Southeastern Conference university has chosen Mondo for its track surface. The installation is part of an overall renovation to James G. Pressly Stadium at Percy Beard Track. The University Athletic Association partnered with Parrish McCall Constructors, along with architect Don Paige of the Paige Design Group, for the track project, which includes moving the long jump runways, shifting the pole vault area, improving drainage and enhancing electrical and communications capabilities.
