By: PRLog
MARTINEZ, Calif. - June 5, 2018 - PRLog -- With over 1.5 billion invested in the blockchain and cryptocurrency markets in 2018, African leaders see an opportunity to leapfrog into a new era of business and government. With the increased investment,  ability to redefine the ways systems operate and remove intermediaries, blockchain related technologies offer a breadth of opportunities. To help elucidate these opportunities, Afrobyte Founders Ammin Youssouf and Haweya Mohamed have assembled a panel to speak on the potential use of blockchain and distributed ledger technology in Africa and other hot topics featuring a number of Technology Industry Leaders. The speakers are part of the Afrobytes Conference on June 7th and 8th.

Jomari Peterson; Chief Executive Officer of the Digital Reserve, a Public Benefit Corporation, will speak on its vision for increasing financial accessibility through economic systems and incentive mechanisms. It is a new era where the internet can be more than a transfer of information, but entirely new systems built around transfers of value.  Cryptocurrency enthusiasts and early adopters of blockchain technology are ushering in major changes to the way digital information is transferred, validated and maintained. Jomari will look at how these forces and technologies shape opportunities to multiply the power of overlooked communities and create a sustainable system for economic growth for users. He will also introduce his work with Trust Savings Credit Union, a United Nations sponsored organization, and how they plan to expand their capabilities to invest in their coverage area of over 1 million people. The sessions is at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 8th.

In addition, some of Afrobytes 2018 Conference's hot topic sessions this year include:
  • The Rise of African Tech Industry. What it means to build an African Tech Industry.
  • "Creating Chaos to Avoid Chaos" with Kamran Elahian
  • Leaders Panel: How women are driving technology and innovation in a challenging environment?
  • Workshop: Let's Leapfrog the potential of education innovation to rapidly accelerate progress in Africa
