Mid-Atlantic Maritime Academy Signs Contract With ASIB-CTIP to Conduct Training on Maritime and Fireman's Courses

MID-ATLANTIC MARITIME ACADEMY (MAMA) and The AMERICAN SCHOOL FOR INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS, a Council for Trade and Investment Promotion (CTIP) Training School, has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) last June 1, 2018, to both conduct Maritime and Fireman's Courses, not only in Norfolk, Virginia where MAMA has state-of-the-art vocational training facilities, but also in China and other countries where CTIP has established a strong presence.

CTIP's own training school, The American School for International Business (ASIB) has signed a MOA with the Mid-Atlantic Maritime Academy (MAMA) to conduct training courses on Marine Engineering, Maritime Training, Medical Care, and Fireman's training, including courses that are related to international trade such as Port Engineering and Administration, Customs Administration, Brokerage, Forwarding and other related subjects that involve activities on importing and exporting.

In an interview with Capt. Edward Nanartowitch, President of MAMA, he said that MAMA a is highly respected institution and has complete state-of-the-art vocational training center established for individuals who seek to enter the exciting maritime profession, as well as mariners seeking to advance their careers. MAMA offers 90+ USCG approved deck courses and engineering courses along with tailored courses. MAMA provides outstanding training to civilian and military mariners from around the globe. MAMA's expert staff of highly regarded, seasoned instructors provide a combination of unequaled teaching techniques with cutting-edge technology such as "hands-on" equipment systems maintenance and interactive simulations.

Capt. Nanartowitch has further explained that MAMA's Deck Technology and Equipment includes among others, Transas Navi-Trainer Professional 5000 Full Mission Bridge simulator interacts with MAMA's Transas Full Mission Engine Room simulator and Nav labs with ECDIS, ARPA, GMDSS and Radar classroom simulators. MAMA's full-sized gravity davit and 12-man lifeboat installation is located on the waterfront in Cape Charles on Virginia's Eastern Shore. This equipment is used with MAMA's USCG / STCW approved Proficiency in Survival Craft / Lifeboatman course. Students use the equipment to demonstrate launching and recovery procedures, oar commands, rowing the lifeboat and taking command of the lifeboat underway. Advanced Firefighting facilities make it a complete full-service training experience for mariners.

On the other hand, Jones said that ASIB-CTIP will supplement the training courses of MAMA by offering Port Engineering and Management, Customs Administration and Brokering, Forwarding and other related subjects that involve activities on importing and exporting.

The American School for International Business (ASIB), a CTIP Training School according to Jones, was established two years ago as an educational platform which bridges Local 2 global or domestic to international opportunities through the exchange of ideas or technology transfer through: Lectures, Training, Forums, Webinar, Symposiums including Conferences, etc., are henceforth the activities of ASIB, a Global Entrepreneurship Center.

Moreover, Jones has discussed with MAMA's Mr. Raymond Blanchet the possibility of jointly hosting Forums and Conferences in Virginia related to the Challenges and Opportunities in the Maritime Industry, and Trade and Investments, including the prospects of promoting Virginia's Tourism Industry to foreign businessmen, stakeholders and investors, especially participants from China, Europe, India and other countries where CTIP maintains a presence cooperative working relationships.

Jones said CTIP's advocacy of supporting local government capacity build up is a classic example of a public-private-partnership (PPP) opportunity, where CTIP is not just focusing on supporting government's infrastructure development through PPP, but also supporting Local Government's quest for economic growth and independence.
