Inaugural 200-mile Florida Coast 2 Coast Running Relay Set for May 11-12, 2018

Participants will run from Titusville to Tarpon Springs via Florida's growing coast to coast connector project

VERO BEACH, FL, May 07, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Genesis Adventures is pleased to announce the inaugural Florida Coast 2 Coast Relay that will take place on May 11-12. Teams of 6 or 12 runners will start on Friday, May 11th at Sand Point Park in Titusville, FL and make their way across the state to the finish at Fred Howard Park in Tarpon Springs, FL on Saturday, May 12th. The route will primarily follow the Florida Coast to Coast Trail.

"We're very excited about getting this event off the ground in 2018," says Tom McCormack, the Event Director. "It's been a lot of work to organize all of the entities across the state to bring this event to life. We're looking forward to building this into a marquee annual event to showcase the Florida Coast to Coast Trail and bring tourism through the many towns that the trail connects."

The Florida Coast to Coast Trail travels through Brevard, Volusia, Seminole, Orange, Lake, Hernando, Pasco, and Pinellas counties and is about 75% complete. "Once complete, the Florida Coast to Coast Trail will be the first ever 250-mile non-motorized paved trail stretching from the Atlantic Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico. The trail will provide citizens and visitors with a unique opportunity to bike, walk, run, jog or in-line skate across Florida, and to enjoy the many communities in nine counties along the way," says Christine Small of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Additional sections of the trail will be completed over the next several years capping a multi-million dollar investment by the state.
