REGISTRATION FOR KEYS 2 LIFE PERFORMING ARTS SUMMER DAY CAMP NOW OPEN – Camp finds new home at Wayne State University

DETROIT - Registration for the Keys 2 Life Performing Arts Summer Day Camp is now open at TheYunion.org.  Keys 2 Life is a high-quality summer arts program focused on developing the creativity and talents of youth from the ages of 11-14.  Campers will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of programs, which include music production & beat making, spoken word poetry, song writing, and drama. Youth will also benefit from programs focused on developing life skills, leadership training and community engagement.

This year, seventy-five $400 scholarships will be awarded.  Scholarships will be pre-awarded to the first 75 requests and will be confirmed after parents and guardians attend the mandatory open house and orientation scheduled for July 7, 2018 noon until 3 p.m.  Whether applying for a scholarship or not, participants are encouraged to apply early because of high-demand for the camp.

Keys 2 Life Performing Arts Day Camp Details:

Location: Wayne State University’s Maggie Allesee Department of Theater and Dance. – 4841 Cass Avenue

Date: Monday, July 9, 2018 – Friday, August 3, 2018

Weekdays – Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Costs: $600 (payment plans are available)

Because The Yunion is committed to ensure as many children from across economic backgrounds are able to attend the camp, it has secured the following funding partners: Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Wayne County Health, Veterans, and Community Wellness Department, and the U.S. Administration for Children and Families Family Youth and Services Bureau.

Now in its sixth year, the Keys 2 Life Performing Arts Summer Day Camp has served more than 600 students.  With a staff of professionally trained instructors, the camp aims to elevate the accessibility of art education to metro Detroit youth.  For additional information, contact Lydia Brown at 313.870.9771.  Applications will also be accepted by mail and in-person at The Yunion, 111 E.
