Inaugural Reman Day Celebrated Globally

Annual event showcases the economic and environmental benefits of remanufacturing

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - April 13, 2018 - (Newswire.com)

The Remanufacturing Industries Council (RIC) collaborated with five remanufacturing sector associations – AFRA, APRA, ARSA, I-ITC, PEARL, and the Reman World publication - to organize the first ever global Reman Day on April 12, 2018. Reman Day was established to educate the world about the value of remanufacturing and draw attention to this critical part of the economy.

Reman Day is an annual global event yet is executed at the local level. Remanufacturers host students, teachers, parents, job seekers and other local community members at open houses, plant tours and presentations designed to showcase the economic and environmental benefits of remanufacturing.

This year’s events encompassed 127 locations, spanning 17 countries on six continents. Specific to the United States, celebrations occurred in various facilities located across 27 states. Government officials signed proclamations that formally established April 12 as Reman Day.

“The Remanufacturing Industries Council was proud to collaborate with our partner associations to organize the first ever global Reman Day. This day was an opportunity to acknowledge the work and people who are responsible for the success of this growing industry. Our organization remains committed to advocate, collaborate, and educate on behalf of the entire remanufacturing industry,” states John Disharoon, Board Chair, Remanufacturing Industries Council and Business Development Manager, Cat Reman.

Remanufacturing is a comprehensive and rigorous industrial process by which a previously sold, leased, used, worn, or non-functional product or part is returned to a “like-new” or “better-than-new” condition, from both a quality and performance perspective, through a controlled, reproducible, and sustainable process.

Remanufacturing saves on average 85% of energy, water, and material use compared to a newly manufactured product. It supports well over 180,000 full-time jobs and produces more than $45 billion of remanufactured goods each year.
