The Festival City sees the "forest through the trees" at this annual event

This Earth Day event is set to educate, inspire and entertain visitors through workshops, music and films with hopes of raising awareness and funds for trees worldwide.
MOUNT DORA, Fla. - April 5, 2018 - PRLog -- This Earth Day Celebration will be the biggest event in its 22 years.

Vendors will be on hand to sell hand craft/upcycled goods and garden plants, educational booths will inform visitors about the environment through interactive displays. Flute and dulcimer musicians will perform live throughout the day .

An Oxygen bar, henna artist, organic and gluten free food will be available for a small fee. SPRINT will collect old cell phones for safe recycling and the Bloodmobile will collect plasma for needy individuals.

Orlando fashion designer Georgia Culp will present an Upcycle Fashion show at 2pm featuring models wearing innovative styles made from recycled materials.

You can also "Build a hanging basket" or learn new skills at "Tree Care 101" seminars in the Donnelly Park building.

This year the Global Peace Film Festival will partner to show thought provoking, award winning films at NO Charge on Friday night April 20, 2018 and Saturday afternoon April 21, 2018 in the Mount Dora Community Building. Lined up are "A Bold Peace" about Cost Rica's decision to abolish the military to allocate funds toward their people. "The Anthropologist" follows an environmental anthropologist travelling and studying the impact of climate change with her daughter. "Speed Sisters" is about the first all-women race car driving team in the Middle East. "The Diplomat" chronicles the life and legacyofRichard Holbrooke, whose career spans fifty years of American foreign policy from Vietnam to Afghanistan and "Taking Root" about Wangari Matthai, a woman who helped to re-forest her country, Kenya, for which she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. See the promo video HERE. Magical Meat Boutique will offer organic beer and wine during the films.

The mission of the event is to raise money to purchase and plant trees. Andrea Burr-Yatsuk, founding member, Mount Dora Friends of the Environment, Inc says, "We help the city and our residents to plant trees through two programs:  The Resident Tree grant, and the Donate-a-Tree program.  We are dedicated to protecting and preserving the environment through education, community outreach and local projects."

Trees will be given away as well as sold to the public at the event.

Earth Day Mount Dora 2018 will be held on Saturday April 21, 2018 from 9am-4pm in downtown Donnelly Park, 530 N Donnelly St.
