Executive Compensation Agreement Issues and the Impact of Tax Reform to be Examined at Upcoming ALI CLE Conference

By: PRLog
NEW YORK - March 19, 2018 - PRLog -- American Law Institute Continuing Legal Education (ALI CLE) has announced that Executive Compensation 2018: Strategy, Design, and Implementation will be held on June 14-15, 2018, in New York City. For more than 20 years, this program has  provided attendees the opportunity to engage with an esteemed faculty on executive pay design and disclosure issues, and any new, repealed, or pending related regulations in a comprehensive learning experience.

The Executive Compensation course never fails to deliver practical insights and advice for proxy season, including best practices for designing an effective proxy statement and getting your stock plan approved. This year, the conference will also address the sweeping changes brought about by tax reform and the notable revisions to the tax code that have potential to bring dramatic changes to the tax treatment of executive and equity compensation. Additionally, an authoritative faculty of current and former key government, business, legal, and technical experts will lead stimulating panels exploring timely topics like #MeToo as it impacts clawbacks and employment agreements, the most current issues in director compensation litigation, and late-breaking developments in compensation design and regulation.

Other topics to be addressed at the conference include:

·       M&A compensation trends

·       Significant alternations to IRS Section 162(m)

·       New Section 83(i)

·       Executive and director compensation trends

·       Negotiating executive compensation arrangements

·       Evaluating the initial CEO pay ratio disclosures

"Last year's tax law changes have dramatically altered the landscape for executive compensation, and the absence of official guidance makes peer to peer discussions critical," said Planning Co-Chair Scott Spector of Fenwick & West LLP, Mountain View, CA. "The same can be said for the effects that #MeToo is having, or about to have, on executive compensation. When combined with the first year's CEO pay ratio- disclosures and the usual issues that continue to evolve in the compensation area, 2018 will be a busy year, complete with intense pressure on compensation advisors."
