With a 60% yes vote of Measure BB, East County High Schools can look forward to upgraded school facilities, infrastructure, technology and equipment.
Thanks to the help of local residents and communities, the Grossmont Union High School District will continue to have the financial support to provide quality school facilities and technology for its 12 high school campuses, 21,850 students, and over 3,000 staff members.
In the district, facility needs exceed state funding for school facilities maintenance. Measure BB approved $128 million in bonds for repairing and upgrading school facilities and improving school security.
According to a thorough inspection of each GUHSD school, the district must repair aging roofs; replace deteriorated plumbing, air conditioning, and electrical systems; rehabilitate aging student support facilities; upgrade classrooms; improve campus safety, security, and access for disabled students; and renovate career-training facilities for STEM.
Proper spending will be ensured through mandatory audits and close management by the Independent Citizens' Oversight Committee.
