Since January 2017, San Diego residents have had the privilege to train alongside world-class athletes at the prestigious Olympic Training Center, now known as the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center. The new ownership grants students and schools access to the facility and a unique opportunity to educate students on the importance of health, nutrition, and exercise.
During the 2017-2018 school year, the Chula Vista Elementary School District will be holding Filed Trips to the Field trip to the Chula Vista Training Center, which will include age-level appropriate activities based on grade-level standards.
These activities, include a personal tour of the center, where students watch Olympic athletes in action, physical education lessons that covers muscle groups and stretching, nutrition lesson that teaches about proper nutrition and the how to read nutrition labels, a fun application of knowledge activity, and meeting session with a professional athlete.
For the past two decades, Chula Vista athletes have won over 60 Olympic and Paralympic medals and have broken numerous national and world records. The Olympic Committee will fund athletic programs at the center until 2020.
