Systems Furniture is the Higher Education Furniture Expert
DE PERE, Wis. - March 13, 2018 - PRLog -- A cutting-edge workforce - for many Wisconsin employers that means hiring people with science, technology, engineering and mathematics skills, commonly referred to as STEM. A prime example of the employees that are in demand are the graduates of Northcentral Technical College in Wausau who come equipped with associate degrees, technical diplomas and certificates within the STEM fields. When Northcentral wanted to create a special on-campus STEM learning facility for students and faculty, they relied on Systems Furniture's higher education furniture experts.

How We Did It:

Step one was to create an interior design that encouraged students to collaborate. Laura Witbro, senior interior designer, created a space plan that fit the furniture requirements, chose wall finishes and accent colors with an upbeat energy, as well as a carpet pattern and chair textiles that picked up the vibe. She also designed a custom reception desk to welcome students.

Step two was to give students options for working together. Account manager, Stacey Prodoehl, created several unique meeting areas. Students can choose from tables and Wit ergonomic office chairs from SitOnIt Seating, contemporary booths and lounge seating from Furniture Lab, upholstered tiered seating and ottomans from High Point Furniture (http://www.hpfi.com) or enjoy a quiet, glass-enclosed video conferencing area. For Northcentral facilities manager, Rob Elliot, the higher education furniture needed to be durable, the chairs needed to be lightweight and easy to roll from spot to spot and everything needed to be planned with accessibility to power and data in mind.

The Results:

"The STEM space has been a success from the day it opened," says Rob Elliot. "It invites students in, sparks collaboration and encourages new ideas. We couldn't be more pleased with the project and Systems Furniture."
