Governor Deal Proclaims Jan. 21-27 “Georgia School Choice Week”; Joins Leaders Nationwide in Celebrating Opportunity in Education

Gov. Nathan Deal has officially proclaimed Jan. 21-27 as Georgia School Choice Week, joining dozens of other governors and hundreds of city and county leaders nationwide in issuing similar proclamations.

Georgians have planned more than 1,000 events and activities to shine a positive spotlight on educational opportunity and spark conversations about what educational options parents have, or want to have, for their children.

More than 32,000 independently planned events will take place nationwide. Events include rallies, roundtable discussions, coffeehouse meet-ups, festivals, school fairs, and more.

“Georgia parents will be able to learn more about school choice by attending the hundreds of events planned over the course of this week,” said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. “We’re grateful to Gov. Deal for issuing this proclamation, and we hope every parent can find the best school or educational setting for their children, so every child can grown and thrive.”

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent, nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through thousands of independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
