Michele and Thomas Harrison hosted a reception on Jan. 11 at the Naples Sailing and Yacht Club for the benefit of SOAR! (Support Our Aging Religious), a Washington, D.C.-based Catholic non-profit organization.

SOAR! raises funds to support aging Sisters, Priests and Brothers across the United States, whose congregations are faced with a financial deficit for their retirement needs.

Sister Kathleen Lunsmann, IHM, SOAR! president, and Sister Peggy Scarano, OP, SOAR! regional representative, spoke about the unfunded retirement liability facing Catholic religious communities of women and men.

Michele Harrison said, “We have to raise awareness of the needs of aging religious. They did so much for me and my family. Now it’s our turn to help them.”
