Productivity Specialist Emily Parks Awarded NAWBO Greater Raleigh Meaningful Green Honor

Technology specialist, Evernote Certified Consultant and professional organizer Emily Parks was honored by the National Association of Women Business Owners Greater Raleigh Chapter (NAWBO GR) on December 12th where she was presented the Meaningful Green Award.
RALEIGH, N.C. - Dec. 19, 2017 - PRLog -- Parks enthused, "I was so excited and honored to receive this award.  I am passionate about not only growing my business to help others lead more productive lives but also making the world a better place as an active member of my community. The NAWBO GR Meaningful Green Award celebrates women business owners in the Triangle area who are successfully growing their businesses while positively impacting the community through their volunteerism, mentoring, fundraising and financial gifting.

The holiday social and awards event was held from 6 to 9 PM at the Umstead Hotel & Spa in Cary, N.C. where Parks and two others were honored with the Meaningful Green Award. Parks also sits on the Board of Directors for NAWBO GR.

Parks is a sought after professional keynote speaker and presenter and has spoken to a variety of local and national businesses, groups and conferences including: American Public Power Association' Customer Connections Conference, HOWU--How Design University, National Association of Professional Mortgage Women – Raleigh Triangle, NAWBO GR, National Association of Professional Organizers North Carolina Chapter, the North Carolina Association of CPAs and the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce's Professional Women's Luncheon.

Emily is also passionate about making a difference in the community and volunteers with the Lung Cancer Initiative (LCI). LCI provides lung cancer research, awareness, education, and access programs for North Carolina. She chaired the Greensboro LUNGe Forward 5K Run, Walk and Rally held on November 111h. She shared, "My father died from lung cancer only 18 months after he was diagnosed. My hope is to eradicate lung cancer and in the meantime, improve the quality of life for those affected by lung cancer, survivors of lung cancer and the families who are affected by lung cancer every day."

In addition to chairing the Greensboro LUNGe Forward 5K Run, Walk and Rally for seven years, she has served on the Board of Directors since 2013.  This year, Emily stepped into the role of BOD Secretary. Emily also launched the Fundraising Development Committee in May of 2017, focused on diversifying the income sources for LCI's many programs and growing the organization's major donors.

Parks volunteer efforts also extend to other community activities. She has been an active member of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce since January of 2008, providing training for Chamber members starting in 2010. Emily served on the Small Business and Member Services Department Board 2013 – 2015 and currently is a member of the Education Committee since 2016.

Over the 5 years of 2010-2015, Emily filled the roles of President, Immediate Past President, Membership Director and Professional Development Director for the NC Chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers.  She now helps annually with the incoming Board Of Directors strategic planning process.

As a member of Kappa Alpha Theta fraternity, Emily gives back to the sisterhood as Secretary of the NC Triangle Alumnae Chapter and serves as Secretary in the Facility Corporation for the collegians at Duke University.
